August 2022: Latest Home Trends
It’s easy to get caught up in the latest home trends or avoid them entirely to risk not falling into traps that will date your home in a few years. Trends come and go, but some are made to stay! Today, we’re sharing some of the home trends you should take into consideration for your home renovation project.
Durability and Longevity
A trend we love to see on the rise: durable surfaces made to last! Your home is an investment that should be made to grow old with you. You don’t want to be staring at a broken off chip from a weaker material, or worse, paying to have it all replaced a few years down the road.
Top flooring searches include 'resin', 'cork' and 'luxury vinyl tile’ with quartz leading for countertops!
Barkitecture
56% of Canadians own at least one pet and trends are generally showing a rise in luxury treatment for pets, from millennials to boomer pet parents! What does barkitecture look like in your home? Designated pet spaces, built in feeding stations and special dog showers! We recently incorporated a dog shower into the design of this Dalhousie home, which also works great for hosing down plants or children!
A Life of Luxuries
We’re not talking about a bathroom made entirely of gold and built-in wine dispensers (although how fabulous does that sound?) We like to interpret this trend as prioritizing quality details that will improve your enjoyment of your home, specifically regarding bathrooms and closets. Some items in this trend include dimmer switches, textured wallpaper, and herringbone flooring.
