Building a Bedroom you'll love!

It can be tricky figuring out how to create a relaxing bedroom, especially when you share that space with a partner! But sleep is an important part of a relationship and helps you show up at your best physical and mental self!

We spend nearly ⅓ of our lives in our bedroom, and that only counts for the time spent sleeping- not the time you spend getting ready, relaxing, and other ways you might spend time in there. Let’s make it a space we enjoy spending time in!

Here are three things you’ll want to consider when creating a bedroom that will save your sleep- and possibly your relationship.

Lights on, Lights off!

We spend most of our time in the bedroom with the lights off but it’s still critical to consider where you actually need light in the bedroom. While you may want a central light fixture for the room, smaller bedside lights will save you from having to get out of bed to turn off the light switch after you’ve finished a thrilling novel.

If you’re doing a new build, consider which direction the sun will be entering from. If you and your partner aren’t early risers, you may want to reconsider an east-facing bedroom, where you’ll get lots of natural light first thing in the morning.

Doing a renovation and don’t want to move an east-facing window? Invest in good blackout shades that will keep the light, and heat out of the bedroom!

Beauty and Function!

The bed is the focal point of the bedroom and one of the spaces we advise you to invest in quality bedding and mattresses for a good night’s sleep. To make sure your bed doesn’t dominate the room, we recommend choosing light-coloured bedding and bringing in other design colours and features in the form of decorative pillows and throws!

Clear Space, Clear Head!

Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling well-rested until you see that pile of clean clothes on a chair in the corner? It’s time to rethink how you organize your space! Closets and dressers are great ways to store things out of sight. If you find that you have a space that tends to be a catch-all for anything and everything, remove it from your space for a few weeks and train yourself to put things away as soon as you’re done with them! By giving everything a home, you’ll be left with a clutter-free space to start every day!

If you’re struggling to find a home for all of your belongings, it may be time to rethink your storage strategy! We can help create built-in closets and storage spaces to suit your needs!
