Be better prepared for a cold snap!

With the chilly couple weeks we’ve had, we’re longing for hot summer days again. But don’t forget these cold days when the snow eventually melts. Now is the time to take stock of what areas of your home are bringing in the most chills. It’s going to happen again next year and we want you to be better prepared.

Is it too chilly to sit by the windows and watch the snow? Are your feet freezing when you enter the bathroom? In this month’s blog, we’re sharing some of the home upgrades that will keep you warmer next winter!

Always Be Prepared

Make sure your home is stocked with the essentials! Canned goods and pasta are always great to have in case it’s hard to get to the grocery store. Extra batteries, blankets, and candles are great back ups to have as well. Verify your vehicle has a full tank so that you won’t be stuck out in -40 waiting at the pumps! Make sure you have an emergency kit for your vehicle too in case something goes wrong on the road.

Now’s a great time to organize your pantry and take stock of what you have! Not enough space to organize properly? We can help create a space for your needs!

Windows

Are you feeling a chill sitting next to the window? It may be time for an upgrade. One of the most recent upgrades we did was in this Dalhousie Remodel which included the installation of Triple Pane Windows!

Double Pane windows are recommended for Canada’s harsh climate but Triple Pane Windows add an extra layer of protection against the cold, protecting your home and reducing your energy bill! They’ll also block harmful UV rays in the summer, protecting your furniture from sun damage for years to come!

An added bonus is that triple pane windows are more soundproof, perfect if you’re next to a busy street!

Heating

There’s not much we dread more in the morning than walking into a bathroom with a cold tiled floor. Underfloor heating is easy to incorporate into your bathroom renovation or any room in your home. Getting ready to build?

Underfloor heating may be something you want to consider. It’s better than venting in that it heats the room uniformly rather than being concentrated by the vents. It’s a worthy investment that will save you money on your energy bill in the long run. Best of all: no more cold feet in the morning!
