Making the Most of your Mudroom!
As we transition from spring to summer, it’s most evident in how our entryway looks. Snow Boots are now mingled with flip flops and you’re moving sports equipment around trying to find your purse!
Entryways and Mudrooms can act as a “catch all '' for those items that don’t really have a place anywhere else in your home. Unfortunately, this can leave us tripping over backpacks and snow boots that should simply be put away. Here are our top tips for revamping this small space to make you excited to walk into your home again!
Storage, Storage, Storage!
Storage is an important feature in any room in your home but especially the entryway where floorspace is at a premium!
By integrating some simple storage features to this mudroom, it’s so much easier to find items and get out the door! The drawers and cabinets are perfect for storing out of season items like snow boots and mittens. Use hooks to keep your everyday items like leashes and jackets.
BONUS: Your belongings will last so much longer without getting stepped on every day!
A Place to Sit!
Whether you’re trying to wrestle jackets onto little ones or struggling to get slip out of some heels, having a place to sit down helps make an entryway so much more functional. In this mudroom, we were able to add bench seating which gives this family a great space to get ready to leave in the morning. This stops us from trekking everything into the living room or dining room just to get a chair!
Let the light in!
When working with a small space like an entryway, lighting can make or break the room. Adding a window to your doorway or a skylight can help bring some much needed natural light into your home. For late nights, we recommend adding a sensor to your lights so you don’t need to fumble for the lightswitch!
When planning your renovation or new build, don’t overlook the entryway! From the planning to execution, we will work with you to help you meet your goals and your budget for your home.
